Online voting to choose Anadolu Agency's "The Best Photo of the Year 2013" has begun on Tuesday.
Taken by AA photojournalists in 2013, a selection of 24 photos under the "News" and "Life" categories will be put to a public vote on AA's Turkish, English and Arabic websites.
The selection made by AA photo editors include photographs depicting significant events that happened in Turkey and across the world in 2013 such as the military coup in Egypt, Typhoon Haiyan in the Philippines, the May-June Gezi Park protests in Istanbul, twin-bomb attacks in the southern Turkish town of Reyhanli near the Syrian border, the annual Islamic pilgrimage to Mecca (Hajj) and the crisis in Syria and in Gaza.
The selected photos have been published in major media outlets in the world such as the Huffington Post, Washington Post and the New York Times.
