US Federal Reserve leaves interest rates unchanged

ANKARA

The U.S. Federal Reserve on Thursday left interest rates unchanged after the monthly meeting of the Federal Open Markets Committee.

The Fed said in a statement: "To support continued progress toward maximum employment and price stability, the Committee today reaffirmed its view that the current 0 to 1/4 percent target range for the federal funds rate remains appropriate."

The Turkish lira gained slightly against the dollar to about 2.99 after the announcement.
