Greece rejects extraditing DHKP-C terrorist to Turkey

ATHENS
A Greek court rejected the extradition of DHKP-C terrorist Mehmet Yayla to Turkey, who had been captured in July by the Greek security forces while carrying arms and explosives to Turkey.

Pireaus Court of Appeal in Greece has decided against the extradition of Yayla on Tuesday. The terrorist, who is believed to be one of the perpetrators of March's twin bomb attacks targeting Justice Ministry and the ruling AK Party headquarters in Ankara, will not be sent back to Turkey if Greek Supreme Court did not object to the decision within 24 hours.

Yayla was captured along with Hasan Biber, another DHKP-C member, on July 30 by the Greek coast guards in a speedboat carrying arms and explosives to Turkey from Chios Island in Greece.
