Gold rises 0.43% to $2,393 per ounce; oil prices fall around 1%

US stocks open Wednesday higher

ISTANBUL

US stocks opened with gains on Wednesday.

The Dow Jones was up 202 points, or 0.53%, to 38,001 at 9.48 a.m. EDT (1348GMT). The S&P 500 rose 22 points, or 0.45%, to 5,074.

The Nasdaq increased 54 points, or 0.34%, to 15,919 at the time.

The VIX volatility index, also known as the fear index, fell 3.7% to 17.72. The 10-year US Treasury yield lost 0.75% to 4.625%.

The US dollar index shed 0.09% to 106.16, while the euro gained 0.3% to $1.0648 against the greenback.

Precious metals were on the rise, with gold adding 0.43% to $2,393 per ounce and silver increasing 2.2% to $28.73.

Oil prices fell around 1% with global benchmark Brent crude at $89.12 per barrel and US benchmark West Texas Intermediate at $84.55.
