US says forces in Syria came under rocket attack, no casualties reported
Neither Green Village base nor coalition property were damaged in attack, says US Central Command
WASHINGTON
Coalition forces stationed at northeast Syria's Green Village base came under rocket attack, but no casualties were reported, US Central Command said Thursday.
Neither the base nor coalition property were damaged in the attack, according to the command.
"Attacks of this kind place coalition forces and the civilian populace at risk and undermine the hard-earned stability and security of Syria and the region,” Central Command spokesman Col. Joe Buccino said in a statement.
US forces in the region are investigating the incident.
The attack is the latest targeting the Green Village. The base came under rocket attacks dating back to January, but came under renewed assault in August and September.
The US has blamed Iran for past attacks.
