The number of Americans filing first-time unemployment claims fell by 10,000 to 236,000 last week, according to Labor Department data released on Thursday.
The figure came below the market forecasts of 244,000 and was down from the previous week's upwardly revised level of 246,000.
The four-week moving average was 245,000 – a decrease of 750 from the previous week's upwardly revised level of 245,500.
The US economy saw an increase of 37,000 in the insured unemployment figure to reach a total figure of 1.97 million. "This is the highest level for insured unemployment since November 6, 2021."
