Turkish Trade Minister Omer Bolat will be traveling to Washington on Friday to hold a series of high-level talks to achieve the $100 billion bilateral trade volume target and further advance economic relations between Türkiye and the US, sources told Anadolu.

Bolat will meet Trade Representative Jamieson Greer and Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick, as well as representatives of US Chamber of Commerce member companies.

Concrete steps will be taken to achieve the $100 billion trade volume target set by Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan.

The discussions will involve consulting the current roadmap in strategic areas to boost the potential for cooperation between Türkiye and the US, in areas ranging from energy to investments, and the defense industry to advanced technologies, while new cooperation opportunities will be assessed.

The effective use and the further development of all existing frameworks, such as the Trade and Investment Framework Agreement (TIFA) between Türkiye and the US, will also be discussed.

The Turkish Trade Ministry remains committed to establishing balanced and sustainable trade with the US, while promoting mutual investments, in line with Erdogan’s framework, the sources said.

Bolat’s visit represents a milestone, confirming the strong economic ties between Türkiye and the US — two allies — despite challenging conditions in global trade, while further solidifying future cooperation prospects.
