Trump's meeting with national security advisers ends: White House

WASHINGTON

US President Donald Trump held a meeting on Tuesday with national security advisers amid tensions in the Middle East.

The meeting lasted for roughly 1 hour and 20 minutes in the Situation Room, a White House official said. Additional details were not immediately available.

Trump abruptly left the G7 summit on Monday, departing a day early. He declared that Tehran should be evacuated "immediately."

Earlier Tuesday, Trump said Iran no longer has control of its airspace.

"We now have complete and total control of the skies over Iran," Trump said, adding Washington knows "exactly" where Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei is, saying he is safe "for now" while warning that "our patience is wearing thin."

Regional tensions have escalated since Friday when Israel launched airstrikes on multiple sites across Iran, including military and nuclear facilities, prompting Tehran to launch retaliatory strikes.
