WASHINGTON
US President Donald Trump said Tuesday he discussed several issues in a phone call with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
"I’ve just spoken to Prime Minister of Israel, Bibi Netanyahu, relative to numerous subjects including Trade, Iran, etc.
"The call went very well—We are on the same side of every issue," Trump said on Truth Social.
White House spokeswoman Karoline Leavitt told reporters that it was "a good call" and they spoke particularly about Iran and negotiations that are underway between Washington and Tehran.
"He's made it quite clear, when it comes to Iran that we want to see a deal, and Iran has a choice to make," said Leavitt.
Trump has threatened military action against Iran if a new agreement is not reached to replace the 2015 nuclear deal brokered under the Obama administration.
The president reiterated in his call with Netanyahu "the need for Iran to never obtain a nuclear weapon," she added.
The US has long been criticized for providing support to Israel in its war in the Gaza Strip, where more than 51,000 victims, mostly women and children, have been killed since Oct. 7, 2023.
Several American lawmakers, including Sen. Bernie Sanders, frequently demand the US government stop supplying weapons to Israel and being complicit in Israel's war in Gaza.
