ISTANBUL
US Secretary of State Marco Rubio reaffirmed his country’s commitment to ending the war in Ukraine during a phone call Sunday with UK Foreign Secretary David Lammy.
In their conversation, Rubio reiterated that "our top priority remains bringing an end to the fighting and an immediate ceasefire" in Ukraine, emphasizing the US stance on resolving the Russia-Ukraine war, according to the US State Department.
The statement was attributed to the department's spokesperson, Tammy Bruce.
The top diplomats also discussed tensions in South Asia, particularly between India and Pakistan.
Rubio and Lammy "emphasized the need for both sides to maintain the ceasefire and to continue to communicate."
Rubio further expressed US support for "direct dialogue between India and Pakistan" and encouraged continued efforts to improve bilateral communication.
