ISTANBUL (AA) – A newly established pro-artificial intelligence (AI) political group plans to spend over $100 million in the 2026 US midterm elections, signaling a growing push to shape American technology policy.

Innovation Council Action, led by former Trump aide Taylor Budowich and backed by tech investor and Trump AI advisor David Sacks, aims to support candidates favoring deregulation and challenge those advocating stricter AI oversight.

Budowich, who previously ran the pro-Trump MAGA Inc. super PAC and Securing American Greatness political organizations, served as a senior official on Trump’s 2024 campaign. He told Fox News Digital that the organization is aligned with Trump’s vision.

“President Trump has made it clear, America will win the AI race against China, period. He built the framework, he’s leading from the front, and this organization exists to make sure he doesn’t fight that battle alone,” Budowich said.

Another pro-industry group, Leading the Future, has raised $50 million from tech figures including Greg Brockman, Joe Lonsdale, and Marc Andreessen. In addition, Meta is supporting a separate super PAC projected to spend around $65 million, largely targeting state-level races.

Trump has placed AI at the center of his policy agenda, advocating for a unified federal regulatory framework instead of a patchwork of state rules, while promoting accelerated development of infrastructure such as data centers.
