WASHINGTON

US President Donald Trump said Thursday that “everybody is making concessions” to end the Russia-Ukraine war, following his bilateral meetings in Davos, Switzerland, including with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.

“I had numerous conversations on Ukraine … It’s not about the money. It’s about 25,000 to 30,000 soldiers a month,” Trump told reporters on Air Force One while returning to Washington after a two-day trip to the World Economic Forum.

Trump said his efforts were primarily aimed at saving lives and would benefit Europe more than the US.

Asked whether Russian President Vladimir Putin will be making concessions amid efforts to end the war, Trump said: "He'll make concessions.

“Everybody's making concessions to get it done. Europe is going to be a part of it ... I’m doing this more for Europe than for me. I’m doing it to save lives, number one. I’m doing it secondarily for Europe,” he added.

The hour-long meeting between Trump and Zelenskyy came as US envoys continue negotiations with both Kyiv and Moscow.

Zelenskyy described the meeting as “productive and substantive,” highlighting discussions on air defense support and daily coordination with US teams.

Zelenskyy announced earlier on Thursday that the first tripartite talks between the US, Russia, and Ukraine would be taking place in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) on Friday and Saturday.
