The image, which shows Trump wearing white papal attire, was posted on his own social media platform Truth Social, without any accompanying text.
The visual quickly spread across social media platforms after it was posted at 10.30 pm Saturday (0230GMT Sunday).
Half an hour later, the same image was also shared from the official White House account on X.
