Tunisian authorities have arrested a suspected Daesh cell in the North African country, according to the Interior Ministry on Wednesday.

In a statement, the ministry said seven suspects of the cell had been rounded up for links to the Daesh terrorist group.

Investigations are still underway to arrest the rest of cell's members, the ministry said.

"The cell coordinated with terrorists nested in the Tunisian mountains," the ministry said, adding that the cell was following a number of officials for "liquidating" them.

The ministry pointed out that the cell also planned to "kidnap two businessmen" and tracked "money transfer between a company and a bank to rob it."

In recent years, the North African country has suffered a number of terrorist attacks that claimed the lives of dozens of security personnel and tourists.
