Saudi Arabia’s foreign affairs minister arrived in Algeria on a surprise visit late Monday.
Faisal bin Farhan uploaded on Twitter a photo with his Algerian counterpart Sabri Boukadoum following a meeting in the capital Algiers.
“In a fraternal meeting with the friend, His Excellency the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Algeria, Sabri Boukadoum, at the beginning of an official visit to this precious country,” he wrote.
There is, however, an official secrecy from both sides regarding the matters that will be discussed. Before the visit, the Saudi diplomat was in Egypt to talk about the developing situation in Libya.
According to sources, Algerian President Abdelmadjid Tebboune is expected to receive the minister later in the day.
This is his second visit to the North African country this year. He visited Algiers in February to discuss bilateral relations, among other issues of mutual importance.
