ABIDJAN, Ivory Coast
Ivory Coast’s President Alassane Ouattara won a second term following the weekend's election, securing 84 percent of the vote, the electoral commission said Wednesday.
Ouattara, the leading candidate throughout the campaign, won 2,118,229 votes, according to Youssouf Bakayoko, the president of the Independent Electoral Commission.
His main rival, former prime minister Pascal Affi N'Guessan, polled less than 10 percent of Sunday’s votes.
