World Bank Turkey Director Martin Raiser has stated on Wednesday, if Turkey wants the continuity of productivity in the next 20 years, then women need to join labor force.
Speaking at the "Works" titled introduction meeting of "2013 World Progress Report" organized by Koc University in Istanbul, Turkish Industrialists' and Businessmen's Association's (TUSIAD) Economic Research Forum (EAF), Bahcesehir University and the World Bank, Raiser stressed the importance of women's joining in labor market and added, "Because, before the crisis, this participation rate was lower."
He noted, if Turkey wants the continuity of productivity in the next 20 years, then women need to join the labour market and added, "Otherwise, the demographic feature will benefit from the demographic power's half.''
He stated that women's labor force participation rate in Turkey was about 30 percent and said, "It is a little bit less than the majority of OECD countries."
