RAMALLAH
Minister of Public Works and Housing in West Bank and a member of the Central Committee of Fatah Movement, Mohammad Shtayyeh has asked US administration to push Israel for peace.
Minister Shtayyeh talked to AA at his ministry in Ramallah on Friday.
Referring to US President Barack Obama's expected visit to the region in March, Shtayyeh stressed, "Our expectation from the US government is to stop these Jewish settlement constructions which keep going constantly and urge Israel for peace. Israel wants to dismantle Ramallah from Jerusalem. How could the peace talks begin before setting 4,611 Palestinians free in prisons and stopping these Jewish settlements."
He underlined, the bottlenecks in the Palestinian economy were continuing and he criticized the Israeli government as they block tax revenues which belong to Palestine.
Furthermore, he touched on the negotiations between Hamas and Fatah and added that he was satisfied with the talks.
"The main point between us and Hamas is that they do not want elections. Negotiations are going on positively," stated Minister Shtayyeh.
