Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez has won re-election for the third time on Sunday.

Tibisay Lucena, President of the National Electoral Commission, stated that 90 percent of the votes were calculated already and between 19 million registered voters, 81 percent of them took place in the poll which brought a record number of attendees into the country's elections history.

According to unofficial results that with 90 percent of votes counted, Chavez had more than 54 percent of the vote and his challenger Henrique Capriles had 45 percent.
Congratulating Chavez after the election results, Capriles talked to his supporters and said, "We have planted many seeds across Venezuela and I know that these seeds are going to produce many trees."
Being in power for 14 years, Chavez supporters celebrated their victory by setting off fireworks and waving flags and dancing in joy outside the presidential palace.
Supporters of 57 years old Chavez stated that Venezuelan leader who has been fighting against cancer has performed well during the elections period and they added that he pays attention to the people of Venezuela.
Being elected for the first time in 1999, Chavez won the love of nation by providing free health services, housing and education options.
After diagnosed with cancer, he underwent an operation in Cuba las year. He had his second operation in February and the tumour was removed.
New presidency of Chavez will take start on January 10.
