The U.S.’ House of Representatives has approved a $1 billion loan guarantee to Ukraine and moved to condemn Russia’s actions in the country.
In a 385-23 vote on Thursday, the House approved legislation that allows the Obama administration to provide Ukraine with the aid package. The bill will now go the Senate for approval.
In a separate session, the House Committee on Foreign Affairs approved a resolution condemning Russian action in Ukraine, which calls for the Obama administration to sanction Russian officials, state agencies and banks.
“Ukraine is in a very difficult and tense situation. Time is of the essence. This resolution is a straight-forward declaration by the House in support of freedom-loving Ukrainians in their time of trial,” said committee Chairman Ed Royce.
