Secretary General of the United Nations (UN) Ban Ki-moon on Tuesday condemned Monday's blast at the Cilvegozu Border Gate on the Turkish side of the border with Syria, in the southern province of Hatay.
A statement by his spokesperson's office said that he underscored the unacceptability of using violence against civilians and expressed his condolences to the families of the victims and wished those injured a speedy recovery.
Ban also added that the bloodshed in Syria continues unabated, and its threats to peace and security in the region are increasing. He said that he was deeply concerned over the spread of the Syria crisis to neighbouring countries.
Ban called on all parties to refrain from using violence, exercise restraint and move toward a political solution and reminded them their obligations under international humanitarian law.
