LONDON
A British woman has been arrested by anti-terror police on Friday after landing in the UK on a flight from the Turkish capital of Istanbul.
The woman, reported to be 21-year-old Jalila Nadra H, who Turkey deported to the UK on Thursday after Turkish police detained her on suspicion of trying to cross into neighboring Syria to join Daesh.
Scotland Yard said in a statement: "Officers from the Metropolitan Police officers Counter Terrorism Command (SO15) arrested a 21-year-old woman at Luton Airport on suspicion of Preparation of acts of Terrorism, under Section 5 of the Terrorism Act 2006."
Turkish Police detained Nadra at the central bus station in Ankara on Tuesday in a counter-terrorism team operation, police sources said.
Recently, three British girls, Shamima Begum, 15, Amira Abase, 15, and Kadiza Sultana, 16, went missing from East London in early February and reportedly arrived in Turkey to cross into Syria.
The British government estimates that as many as 600 people have left Britain to go to Syria and Iraq.
More than 200 people were arrested last year on terrorism charges.
According to Turkish officials, Turkey has deported more than 1,100 Syria-bound foreigners back to their countries since January 2015.
