MADRID
Two alleged members of the Basque separatist group ETA have been arrested in southern France, Spanish Interior Minister Jorge Fernandez Diaz said on Wednesday.
Speaking at a press conference in Madrid, Diaz said the pair - Inaki Reta de Frutos and Xabier Goienetxea - had been charged over providing logistic support to the militant group.
ETA, listed as a terrorist organization by the EU, gave up its armed struggle in October 2011. However, Diaz said: "As long as ETA remains, security forces will be actively after them."
The men had been wanted for a long time and had previously served prison terms for their involvement with ETA, Diaz claimed, adding that they were likely to know the location of ETA arms caches.
