ANKARA
Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu informed Anne Brasseur, President of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe, on Turkey's recent counter-terrorism operations during a phone conversation on Wednesday.
According to Turkish diplomatic sources, Brasseur extended her condolences to Cavusoglu with regards to the victims of the recent wave of attacks in Turkey.
During the phone conversation, which was requested by Brasseur, Cavusoglu gave detailed information on Ankara's recent efforts and measures against the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) and Daesh following the attacks.
Cavusoglu also stressed that the the government initiative called the "solution process", aimed to end the decades-old conflict with the PKK, failed due to the recent terror attacks by the PKK.
Turkey has been hit by a wave of terrorist attacks since the fatal Suruc bombing on July 20, with at least 33 security force members, 12 civilians being killed and more than 1,700 people, suspected of being linked to the PKK, Daesh or the far-left Revolutionary People's Liberation Party-Front (DHKP-C) detained across the country.
