The new Tunisian government has won the confidence of the National Constituent Assembly with more than two thirds of votes.
As many as 149 lawmakers voted in favor of the cabinet line-up presented by Prime Minister Mehdi Jomaa, 20 voted against and 24 abstained.
The cabinet needed only a 50 percent plus one majority to pass.
Jomaa had presented his cabinet – which comprises 21 ministers and seven state ministers – and political program to the assembly on Tuesday for approval.
The debates took nearly 12 hours before the assembly granted the cabinet its seal of approval.

The new Tunisian government of Prime Minister Mehdi Jomaa was sworn in on Wednesday by President Moncef Marzouki.
