İSTANBUL
A member of the Foreign Relations Committee of the Syrian National Council, Dr. Halit Hoca, on Friday said that Syrian security forces and paramilitary forces of Shebiha began the most violent attack in the city of Homs today.
Speaking to the Anadolu Agency (AA) correspondent by phone, Hoca indicated that Syrian security forces placed the Halidiye, Bayada and Jandaly districts of Homs under heavy artillery shelling and bombardment by tanks on Friday.
"We are receiving terrible news from the region. A massacre is taking place in Homs. Today's attack is the biggest one in Homs to date," Hoca said.
Dr. Halit Hoca made a call on the UN observers to immediately travel to Homs to monitor the situation there.
The UN observers earlier declared that they would not conduct monitoring duties on Fridays.
