Typhoon-ravaged Tacloban is struggling to recover from the ruin and devastation caused by the storms which caused catastrophic damage throughout central Philippines.
The AA team located in the Typhoon Haiyan`s worst-hit Tacloban city report that the city was in ruins and its infrastructure has collapsed.
The wreck removal operations in the city move very slowly due to lack of heavy vehicles and equipment.
There are corpses lying uncollected on the streets because cold storage depots and morgues are also damaged.
Wealthy residents had departed the city days earlier, but the poor could not leave the city as they await the scarce number of ships assigned by the Philippine government to be evacuated from the devastated town.
Search and rescue teams are struggling to poll bodies from debris to prevent the risk of epidemics.
Meanwhile, a curfew continues to be imposed in the city after sunset because of the power outage leaving the city in utter darkness. Most of the survivors seek shelter in churches and schools converted into sanctuaries.
Relief organizations cannot reach all parts of the city due to security concerns.
