JERUSALEM
The Israeli army said Monday that a rocket was fired from Syria into the Israel-held Golan Heights.
"A rocket fired from Syria fell in an open area in Al-Rom in the Golan Heights," the army said via Twitter.
No injuries were reported.
In a statement, the Israeli army said it had returned fire at the area from which the rocket was launched.
Monday's attack came one day after a rocket was fired from Syria into the occupied Syrian Golan Heights, prompting retaliatory artillery fire from Israel.
Since last Monday, Israel has pounded the Gaza Strip with airstrikes, killing at least 177 Palestinians and injuring more than a thousand.
Israel claims the offensive, dubbed "Operation Protective Edge," is aimed at staunching rocket fire from Gaza.
