ISLAMABAD (AA) - Pakistani Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif imitates Turkey that experienced development during the last 10 years in order to solve terror-issue and problems in energy field, Pakistani expert told AA.
Irfan Sahbaz, an expert at the Pakistani Politic Research Institute Center, commented that although Turkey and Pakistan have a real friendship, this relation did not spill over beyond diplomatic and military areas, and trade volume is below potential of the two countries. Claiming Turkey no longer needs the European Union membership, Sahbaz said "It is important for us that Turkey has evolved into a country that European Union needs."
Pakistani expert noted PM Sharif values projects that can be developed with Turkey. "Turkey knows Nawaz Sharif, and he knows Turkey. Through cultivating a warm relation with Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan, he takes examples from Turkey that experienced development during the last 10 years. He hopes this visit will be very positive and trade volume will increase beyond 1 billion USD in a short period of time," said Irfan Sahbaz.
Pakistani PM Sharif arrived in Turkey on Monday and held talks with Turkish counterpart Erdogan and visited Turkish President Abdullah Gul. He also attended Turkey-Pakistan Trade and Investment Forum.
