BELGRADE (AA) – Serbian police arrested a group of 10 people who are considered as part of an organized crime group which provides illegal transport for emigrants from Syria as well as African and Asian countries.
The police believe they were partaking in the illegal transportation of people through Kosovo and Serbia to EU countries.
“We suspect these people participated in the illegal transportation of emigrants from July until October this year. They were charging from 2,100 to 3,500 Euros per person for that,” Serbian police said.
Last month, coordinated efforts between Serbian and Hungarian police found nine people from Syria illegally transiting Serbia.
More and more people from Syria are crossing illegally through Serbia in attempts to enter the EU.
