Serbian and Russian armed forces have held a joint military exercises at a training center in Ruma, northern Serbia.
Exercises was performed by 207 troops from the Russian Air Forces and 197 troops from different departments of the Serbian Army in an exercise entitled Srem 2014 on Friday, the Serbian Ministry of Defense announced in a written statement.
Troops used live ammunition, mortars, grenade launchers and long-range rifles during the drill, which was aimed at improving cooperation between the two forces and developing the skills and tactics for handling anti-terrorist operations in multinational missions, the statement read.
Serbian Defense Minister Bratislav Gasic, Serbian Chief of General Staff Ljubisa Dikovic, Russian Ambassador to Belgrade Aleksandar Cepure, and many generals and guests participated in the exercise.
Preparations for the drill began in March and pre-exercise training was held between 7 and 13 November at the Batajnica airbase, 20km (12 miles) outside of Belgrade.
