ANKARA
The Second Turkish-German CEO Forum was held in the Turkish capital of Ankara on Monday.
Speaking at the Forum, German Chancellor Angela Merkel indicated that figures on Turkey's economic growth were highly crucial for them.
The economic improvement in Turkey could be a model to countries trying to deal with debts, Merkel underlined.
"The debt ratio in Germany is over 80percent. As such, we can learn many things from Turkey," Merkel also said.
Issue of visas leave the business world in an unfair competition
Speaking at the Forum, Turkish Economy Minister Zafer Caglayan underlined that the issue of visas left the Turkish business world in an unfair competition.
"The issue of visas have become a cruelty against Turkish businesspeople," Caglayan noted.
"I would like to express that the Turkish business world expects to enter the Euro Zone without visas," Caglayan also said.
Right for dual citizenship for Turks living in Germany must be reconsidered
Speaking at the Forum, the Chairman of the Executive Board of the Turkish Industrialists' and Businessmen's Association (TUSIAD), Muharrem Yilmaz indicated that the right for dual citizenship for Turks living in Germany had to be reconsidered by German officials.
Touching on attacks made on German citizens of Turkish background, Yilmaz underlined that the relevant German investigation committee should conclude works as soon as possible.
TUSIAD's counterpart in Germany, BDI was represented by Ulrich Grillo at the Forum.
BDI's CEO Grillo stressed that they expected a growth rate of 0.8 percent in 2012.
"Surely, this figure is not impressive when you look at it from Turkey. Turkey expects to grow by 5 percent in 2013. We were able to catch such a growth figure only within the past 10 years," Ulrich also said.
