
WASHINGTON
Republican Party has formally named Mitt Romney as its candidate for president of the United States.
During the national party congress at Tampa city in Florida, the nomination of Romney for presidency became certain by the votes of the delegates of the party.
Romney's nomination has been clear since May as other rivals withdrew one by one.
Romney will make a speech at the congress on Thursday.
Meanwhile, the delegates also approved Paul Ryan as Republican Party nominee for Vice President of the United States.
U.S. presidential election will be held on November 6, 2012. Current President Barack Obama for the Democrats will compete against Romney for Republicans.
