The United Nations Special Rapporteur on the human rights situation in Myanmar Ojea Quintana said Rohingya Muslims had been facing systematic violation of human rights.
"There is a systematic and widespread violation of human rights against Rohingya Muslims and the blameworthy are not called to account," said Quintana speaking to the journalists in Geneva.
He said it was only one of the shocking examples that the security forces fired and killed 3 women protesting in a peaceful way last week in Arakan (Rakhine), which she said showed how the security forces were free of punishment.
Emphasizing that he had reliable information on the violation of human rights against Rohingya Muslims, Quintana said Myanmar Government should launch an extensive and objective investigation into the violence against Muslims.
"I have never seen an attempt from the government to stop the violence in Arakan," said Quintana.
He said there were claims based on reliable sources that Muslim villages were evacuated, men and boys were arrested and not supplied with the right to a fair trial, Muslim women and girls were exposed to sexual assault.
Men in Arakan have been escaping their villages fearful of arbitrary arrest and leaving their women defenseless against sexual assault, Quintana said.
