Police have arrested a man on suspicion of involvement in a series of explosions that rocked 18 locations in Guangxi province in south China on Wednesday and Thursday, leaving seven people dead and dozens more injured.
State-run Xinhua news agency reported that 17 blasts -- which injured more than 50 people -- occurred in urban areas of Liucheng district on Wednesday, with the first detonating at around 3.50 p.m. (0750GMT).
China Daily reported that another explosion had hit a residential area of Liucheng Thursday morning, but no casualties were reported.
Xinhua said that the bombs -- hidden in courier parcels -- had left five victims dead at the scene, while two others later died in hospital.
The South China Morning Post said Wednesday that the earlier blasts had targeted government offices, supermarkets, a hospital, a bus, a prison, shopping malls, a dormitory, and a center for disease prevention.
Police have arrested a 33-year-old suspect, it reported.
China News Service reported officials as saying that a total of 60 suspicious parcels had been identified and were awaiting investigation by bomb squads.
