At least 76 people were killed on Thursday in air and ground operations across Syria carried out by President Bashar al-Assad's regime, opposition activists have claimed.

Twenty eight were killed in Aleppo, 15 in the suburbs of Damascus, 13 in Deir-ez Zor, 12 in Homs, four in Idlib, 2 in Daraa, one each in Hama and Lattakia, the London-based watchdog Syrian Network for Human Rights.

Meanwhile, Syrian government's official news agency SANA claimed security forces "neutralized" a large number of armed groups during operations in Idlib, Homs, Daraa and Aleppo.

More than 100,000 people have been killed during the ongoing three-year conflict in Syria, which has also internally displaced more than 6.5 million people, according to the UN.

More than two million Syrians are now registered as refugees in neighboring countries, including Turkey, Lebanon, Jordan and Iraq.
