DHAKA, Bangladesh
Muslims in Bangladesh will begin fasting for Ramadan on June 30.
The announcement was made after a meeting of the National Committee for Moon Sighting, chaired by Minister for Religious Affairs Motiur Rahman, on Saturday.
The decision was made as the first stage crescent moon, a criteria for the beginning of Ramadan, had not been seen anywhere in the country.
Bangladesh's Islamic Foundation had called for all citizens to inform it of any moon sightings.
