KABUL
12 Taliban militants were killed and 20 others injured during an operation in the Nijrab district of Afghanistan's Kapisa while unknown assailants killed an Afghan election official.
Provincial police chief spokesman of Kapisa, Hamyoun Rashidi, said 12 Taliban militants were killed and 20 others injured during an operation in the Nijrab district of Kapisa.
Afghanistan has launched the operation in the past three days.
Six Afghan security forces were also injured during the operation on Taliban insurgents in which no civilian casualties have yet been reported.
The operation will continue in several parts of the district, according to Rashidi.

Unknown assailants killed the head of the election commission in a northern Afghan province, local officials said.
Amanullah Aman was killed in an attack by unknown assailants in Kunduz province in northern Afghanistan.
The security official said Aman died later at a hospital.
