GAZA CITY
The Ezzeddin al-Qassam Brigades, the armed wing of Palestinian resistance faction Hamas, have claimed ambushing an Israeli force in eastern Gaza Strip.
In a statement, the Brigades said that the Israeli force has been "totally destroyed", giving no further details.
On Saturday, the Brigades claimed that its fighters had killed 11 Israeli soldiers in an operation behind on eastern border of the Gaza Strip.
The claim, however, has not been confirmed by Israel, which only said that two troops, including a senior officer, had been killed in an "infiltration attempt" inside Israel.
Since July 7, Israel has been pounding the Gaza Strip with devastating air and naval attacks with the ostensible aim of halting rocket fire.
At least 343 Palestinians have been killed and 2560 others injured in the relentless Israeli attacks on the tiny enclave.
Five Israelis, including three soldiers, have also been killed since the hostilities began.
