BRUSSELS (AA) – The European Union foreign ministers met in Luxembourg on Monday and underlined concerning Syrian crisis worsening day by day that an immediate political solution is needed in order to end the violence
The EU foreign ministers condemned the fierce use of force by the Syrian regime. The EU aslo condemned all human rights abuses in the country including the attacks on religious and ethnic groups in Syria.
In the decision taken by the EU concerning Syria it was stated “The bloodshed and atrocities in the Syria can only be stopped with a political solution coming out in a united, encompassing and democratic Syria.”
EU foreign ministers, welcoming the UN Secretary General Ban Ki-Moon’s call for the Geneva Conference II EU to hold before the end of November, called for the parties to appreciate this call affirmatively.
The EU, calling for the Syrian opposition to participate in the conference and take an active role there, encouraged the Syrian National Council for Opposition and Revolutionary Forces to lead the process.
