Talks between Hamas and Fatah over the set up of Palestinian National Consensus Government has started in Cairo.
Palestinian unity government talks mediated by Egypt started between Hamas and Fatah representatives in Egypt's capital and started debates for the establishment of the National Consensus Government on the way to elections.
Representatives who are attending to the debates in Cairo from the Central Committee of Fatah are Azzam al-Ahmad, the President of the Internal affairs commission, and Sahr Besyo, member of the Central Committee of Fatah, and Mousa Abu-Marzook, the Deputy Chairman of the Hamas Political Bureau, Mohamed Nasr and Izzet er-Risk, members of the Hamas Political Bureau.
Furthermore, intelligence officers of Egypt will be ready to take place during the negotiations.
In a statement issued, Azzam al-Ahmad stressed that they will be reviewing the start-off points of the Central Election Commission (CEC) in Gaza City and mentioned that they held talks with political groups in Gaza which were settled under the presidency of Hanna Nasser regarding elections.
Formation of the new government is being expected in ten days and during talks in Cairo, preparations of the elections as well as the public improvements in Gaza City would be discussed.
Officials from Hamas and Fatah were also set to meet in Cairo to agree on the makeup of the technocratic transitional government, which would be made up of independent professionals.
At a meeting in Cairo on May 20, senior Fatah and Hamas officials agreed that the CEC would start work in Gaza by the end of the month, and that both factions would at the same time begin consultations on forming an interim government of independents.
