JERUSALEM (AA) - September 10, 2012 - A Palestinian foundation has protested a concert held Sunday at the courtyard of Masjid al-Aqsa to celebrate the Jewish new year, Rosh Hashanah.
Al Aqsa Foundation for Endowment and Heritage slammed the event held at a venue adjacent to the Qibla Mosque as "the violation of Masjid al-Aqsa's sanctity," calling on the Islam world "to step up and stop attacks on Masjid al-Aqsa and Jerusalem."
Strong opposition and protests forced Israeli authorities to move a wine festival off-limits of a historic mosque in the Israeli city of Be'er Sheva earlier this month.
The wine festival was originally planned to be held at the courtyard of the Be'er Sheva's Great Mosque, but it was moved outside the premises of the mosque.
