ISLAMABAD
Pakistan has honored the visiting Turkish Prime Minister Ahmet Davutoglu with a state medal.
Pakistani President Mamnoon Hussain conferred a medal on Davutoglu at an official ceremony at the presidency in capital Islamabad Tuesday during his two-day official visit to the country.
Later, the Turkish premier and the accompanying delegation of ministers and businessmen proceeded for a dinner meeting at the presidency.
Earlier in the day, Davutoglu met Pakistan’s Army Chief Gen. Raheel Sharif and Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif. He also co-chaired the fourth meeting of the Turkey-Pakistan High Level Strategic Cooperation Council with the Pakistani premier.
Turkey and Pakistan also signed 11 memorandums of understanding agreements in various sectors, including energy and transportation to increase the $695.3 million trade volume to at least $3 billion in the next two years.
On Wednesday, Davutoglu is scheduled to visit Lahore, Pakistan’s second largest city.
