The "operational mechanism" on Syria, which came into being during a recent visit of the US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton to Turkey, will hold its first meeting in Ankara on Wednesday.
Diplomatic sources told the Anadolu Agency (AA) that the meeting would begin on Wednesday morning at the Turkish Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA).
Due to its technical character, the meeting will be closed to the press corps.
The "operational mechanism" is made up of diplomats, military and intelligence officials.
The US delegation would be led by Ambassador Elizabeth Jones while a high level Turkish diplomat would lead the Turkish delegation.
