CAIRO
At least one Egyptian was killed and 12 others injured when their bus came under attack late Monday in the restive Sinai Peninsula, security and medical sources said.
The bus, carrying harbor workers, was heading from Nuweiba to Suez when it came under fire by unidentified gunmen, causing it to flip over, the sources said.
Military forces rushed to the area to cordon off the site and track down the perpetrators, the sources added.
Egypt's Sinai Peninsula, which shares borders with both Israel and the Gaza Strip, has seen almost daily attacks by unknown gunmen since the July 3 military ouster of democratically elected President Mohamed Morsi.
Last month, 25 policemen were killed in North Sinai in an attack by suspected militants.
The attacks spurred the Egyptian army to launch a massive offensive against militant groups thought to be based in the region.
