Negotiators representing South Sudan's President Salva Kiir and sacked vice president Riek Machar have achieved no progress in their talks in Addis Ababa, a source said Friday.
"There is no development in the talks," the source close to the talks told Anadolu Agency.
South Sudan has been shaken by violence since last December, when Kiir accused Machar of standing behind a failed coup attempt.
The conflict has already claimed more than 10,000 lives, with the U.N. estimating that some 3.7 million people in South Sudan are now "severely food insecure" while around one million have been displaced by the violence.
Following weeks of talks mediated by the Intergovernmental Authority on Development (IGAD), an East African trade bloc, in Addis Ababa, the two sides signed a cessation of hostilities agreement in January.
A second round of talks was on the verge of collapse last week, but the two rivals agreed to resume their talks following mediation from Ethiopian Prime Minister Hailemariam Desalegn, who is the current IGAD chair.
