ANKARA
The Turkish foreign minister has said nothing could stop Turkey from expanding its cultural and economic ties with the Russian Federation and Tatarstan.
"We do not see any limits or boundaries in our cultural and economic relations both with our friend and neighbor Russian Federation, and Tatarstan," said Turkish Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu after meeting with Tatarstan's President Rustam Minnikhanov in Ankara on Wednesday.
Davutoglu said Turks and Tatars had relations dating back to history, moreover, their political cooperation was currently at the highest level.
The minister also said mutual visits between the two countries had increased remarkably after the removal of visas and economic relations had gained momentum.
Tatar President Minnikhanov, in his part, thanked for Turkey's efforts to preserve the common culture of Turkic-speaking countries.
Minnikhanov said the business forum to be held in Istanbul within the scope of his visit would contribute to economic ties between Turkey and Tatarstan.
He said numerous Turkish enterprises cooperated with their Tatar counterparts in various fields, adding that the number of joint projects between the two countries should be increased.
