NATO has promised to support Ukraine's territorial integrity and its sovereignty, following a meeting in Brussels on Wednesday.
A joint statement said that the Ukraine's sovereignty and independency was crucial to Euro-Atlantic security.
"NATO’s allies will continue to support Ukrainian sovereignty and independence, territorial integrity, democratic development, and the principle of inviolability of frontiers, as key factors of stability and security in central and eastern Europe and on the continent as a whole," the statement said.
The statement came amid the tension in Crimea, an autonomous region of Ukraine, between pro-Russian and opposing groups.
