BRUSSELS
NATO Secretary-General Anders Fogh Rasmussen has said that NATO was ready to defend alliance member Turkey amid artillery exchanges along its southeastern border with Syria.
"We have all necessary plans in place to protect and defend Turkey if necessary," Rasmussen told reporters before a meeting of the alliance's defense ministers in Brussels on Tuesday.
Rasmussen said that Ankara could rely on the alliance.
