BERLIN
German Chancellor Angela Merkel sent Russian President Vladimir Putin a condolence letter regarding the victims of the deadly Sunday blast at the train station in the southern Russian city of Volgograd.
Expressing her grief in the letter, Merkel sent her condolences to the families of 16 people killed in the appalling attack, and wished a speedy recovery of the 42 wounded.
Meanwhile, German Foreign Minister Frank-Walter Steinmeier called his Russian counterpart Sergey Lavrov, and harshly condemned this act of terror, sending his sympathies to the victims.
Steinmeier said that those behind the deadly blast need to answer for their actions.
